Canon Point: Post-game
Age: He lost count a couple millenia ago.
Grade Level: Freshman
Personality: Never before has the phrase 'full of hot air' applied quite so literally as it does to Pyrrhon. The very first thing anyone ever notices about him, apart from his constant combustion, is how utterly, completely full of himself he is. He's a God, wielding divine might, and he knows it. Sometimes, it also seems like all he knows. Pyrrhon often seems to be a little on the slow side, and prefers to take the more direct route to things when possible.
Of course, how things seem, and how things actually are can often be very different. While that may be Pyrrhon's preferred method of dealing with things, it's by no means his only method. When the situation calls for it, he can be patient, biding his time, learning and researching everything he needs to know, while keeping his true intentions a secret. Which, given some of his darker attributes, is kind of a bad thing.
Pyrrhon's convinced that he's basically the best thing ever. When people don't share that viewpoint, it kind of bothers him. When people actively disagree and insult him, it kind of REALLY bothers him, even if he doesn't show it. It's questionable whether he's pretending not to notice or if it's genuinely going over his head at the moment, though.
Still, it's not as if he's completely evil or anything. He just has a bit of an out of control inferiority complex. Pyrrhon believes himself to be on the side of justice, and he's very enthusiastic about it. Probably a little too much, really. He kind of has a tendency for going totally over the top in most things he does, and tends to treat even mundane things with a sense of grandiose. He has no 'inside voice'. He is a God, and everything he does is worthy of being treated in the most majestic manner possible.
Backstory: Long, long ago, when the world was new, all-powerful beings known as Gods came into existence. One of these beings was known as Pyrrhon, the Sun God. To go into his entire backstory would be a tale too long for any mortal to read in their lifetime, (Probably. Pyrrhon certainly says so, anyway) so we'll go with a slightly abridged version, detailing the most important bits.
Among the pantheon of Gods, Pyrrhon was slightly looked down upon, to say the least. The others insist that he doesn't even qualify as a god... and for rather good reason, too. Despite having a title as prestigious as the Sun God, his powers are actually a bit weaker than most- Though, he still packs the firepower to outclass any mortal. Not only that, but he has next to no followers, religious humans or otherwise. While many other gods possess their own armies, commanders, and underlings, Pyrrhon has just himself. That little fact in particular has always been a source of frustration for him- though he rarely let the other gods in on that.
As time passed, the disrespect he received from the other Gods caused his anger to grow, more and more until it was too much for him to take. So, he began searching for ways to find revenge. He couldn't win a straight up fight with the other Gods; he needed an edge. While looking through books of prophecy and Divinipedia, researching whatever he could, he found one: the Aurum.
They were artificial beings, a massive hive that possesses the strength to destroy and consume entire planets. No one knows who made them, or if anyone had actually done so at all. Not that Pyrrhon cared about that. What he did know was that they possessed the strength to rival the Gods, and that they were some kind of highly advanced machines. And machines could be controlled. THAT was definitely of interest to him. If he could somehow seize control of the Aurum, he'd have his very own army, a completely loyal group of mechanical followers to enact his will.
In his research, he learned how to do just that... though, it wouldn't be so simple. Pyrrhon would surely be outclassed if he attempted to take on the Aurum himself. He'd need help. And somehow, asking the other Gods to go out into space to try to find them so he could seize control once he's got a clear path and wipe them all out didn't seem like it'd go very well. Though, if the Aurum came to them, he wouldn't need to do a thing to convince others to fight the Aurum. After all, the alternative would be sitting back and letting themselves and the planet be consumed.
All he needed to do now was wait. It was only a matter of time, after all, before the other Gods ended up fighting each other over something, and sure enough, that day eventually came. "Beckoned by destruction and corruption," the Aurum attacked, and the Gods and their armies, and Pyrrhon, all joined together to fight the Aurum, and they were winning- mostly thanks to the extensive knowledge Pyrrhon had on them, and a certain chicken-winged servant of the Goddess of Light.
Before the final blow was struck, Pyrrhon tore his way into the Aurum Brain, the control center for each and every Aurum unit, and seized control. He'd never felt such power; He'd become a Level Infinity Epic Super God Plus! At least, for a short time...
The one thing he hadn't counted on was the Aurum Brain fighting back. He'd thought of them as mindless machines, programmed to consume and grow, but with no true will, and no ability to resist once he was in command. He was wrong. Within minutes, Pyrrhon's plan had completely backfired. Instead of using the Aurum to become more powerful, they were instead controlling him. He'd become little more than a puppet, his body and powers used in a last ditch attempt by the Aurum to protect themselves from destruction. An attempt which failed, as the Aurum, and his own powers overloaded, in the form of a massive pillar of flame, propelling their hive away from the planet. The Earth had been saved once again, by Pit, and it wasn't even the last time he'd do it. That's another story, though.
As for Pyrrhon, well. Killing a God is difficult. In some cases, their essence can survive even after their body has been completely destroyed, and Pyrrhon wasn't quite that far gone. No, the Sun God was still alive. Unconscious due to the massive strain on his body and draining of his powers, but alive.
Eventually, time passed, and his godly might restored itself enough for him to regain consciousness. Over a year had passed, and Pyrrhon now found himself in a burnt out husk in the middle of space. Being made of fire and all, he'd been relatively unharmed by blast that'd propelled them so far, especially since it was created from his own powers, but the Aurum? They were totally destroyed. Which, you'd think that given his possession and near destruction thanks to them, would make Pyrrhon happy. However, that wasn't the case.
He'd been so close to controlling them, felt such immense power before it all went wrong. There had to be SOME way he could regain control, now that the Aurum Brain was totally destroyed and couldn't resist him. Of course, that was just a delusion. He knew full that without the brain controlling them, nothing would work. That's why he had to seize control of it before it was destroyed. Sure enough, what little wasn't burnt to a crisp, was completely inactive, nonfunctional with no way to restart them. The only way he could control the Aurum again was if he were to somehow recreate them, which was completely beyond his capabilities. The only one he could think of that could would be Dyntos, God of the Forge, and there definitely wouldn't be any way of getting him to do that. With no other options, Pyrrhon left the remains of the Aurum to drift through space, and headed back to Earth. Which, unfortunately, would take a while... he couldn't exactly go faster than he could going the other way.
By the time he got back, more than 3 years had passed since the defeat of the Aurum, and things were very different. The war between Gods had finally ended, and the world was peaceful, thanks once again to the efforts of Pit- who, from what Pyrrhon could gather, was currently away at some kind of school. Which made sense and all! Last Pyrrhon had heard, the poor kid didn't even know how to read. What didn't quite make sense though is what kind of school that angels go to. He wasn't aware of ever hearing about such a thing before.
That's how he ended up hearing about Smash Academy, and how he decided to attend. If there was no way of recreating the Aurum where he was, then maybe there'd be some way in some other
Either way, it's a heck of a lot better than having to face the other Gods about the whole 'trying to kill you' issue. Definitely not a conversation he's looking forward to.
Anything Else?:
-He has very powerful pyrokinetics and can fly.
-Yes, he's on fire all the time. No, that somehow doesn't seem to affect the things around him or keeps him from touching people. Unless he wants it to, of course.
-Being a Kid Icarus character, he might occasionally break the fourth wall.
-Having his mind temporarily fused with an alien AI may have had a side effect or two. Mostly having the blueprints of the Aurum stuck in his brain, even if he doesn't possess the technology to recreate them.
In-Character 1st person sample:
Hello, Smash Academy! You may not know me yet, but don't you worry, that'll be changing soon. Pyrrhon, your new resident Sun God. Please, hold your worship, I'm not here on any religious business today. (Though, if you REALLY want to give it, I certainly won't object.) No, Pyrrhon is here... TO LEARN!
Yeah, ol' Pyrrhon's always thought about going back to school, learning some new skills, maybe getting a degree in mechanical engineering. That kind of thing! After my latest enterprise fell flat on its face, I figured now would be the perfect time to do it! So now, teachers and students, you'll get to join the mighty Pyrrhon attending classes! Lucky you!
In-Character 3rd person sample:
The dorm room was dark, right up until Pyrrhon walked in. He didn't need to turn on a light. He WAS light. The light... OF JUSTICE! At least, that's what he always told himself, anyway.
So these were the kinda places mortals hung out when they were attending school then, huh? Not bad, really. Comfy bed, nice view out the window. Not quite on par with his old place up in the heavens, but hey, he could handle it! Even had a computer, too. Back in his world, mortals hadn't reached that level of technology yet, so it was interesting to see one that wasn't of divine design. That was already a good sign, too.
If the humans of his world were to even try to make one, even if they knew how to make one, they just didn't have the capability to build it to the same specifications. It'd have to be several times bigger, and would be much more inefficient. Just like when Pyrrhon had tried his hand hand at making an Aurum unit. Poor thing was too heavy for its anti-grav unit to work, and it fired not so much energy blasts, but more like gentle static shocks.
That wasn't a problem, though. Somehow, he'd find a way to rebuild them, make sure they're programmed to only obey him this time, and then? Ultimate power would be Pyrrhon's once more!
...Until then, though, he's gonna try taking a nap on his new bed. Even Gods get sleepy, after all!
